Adult Swim's Top New Show of 2025 Secures a Substantial Renewal for an Additional Two Seasons.

Last October, the late-night programming block saw the return of its offbeat hit, Smiling Friends. But, later that same month, the channel introduced a fresh animated series with a markedly softer vibe. Haha, You Clowns emerged as heartwarming and calm, reminiscent of a cartoon version of a contemplative talk show. During a period often defined by cynicism, this show's earnestness resonated deeply and helped it become a surprise hit.

A Two-Season Greenlight

In mid-December, the network revealed exciting news: Haha, You Clowns has been greenlit for two more seasons. This provides showrunner Joe Cappa ample opportunity to develop the world of the Campbell family. The show centers on three polite teenage brothers whose defining trait is their deep love for their single father, with Cappa voicing for all four central characters.

"I’m so grateful to the fans of the show who gave *Haha, You Clowns* a chance and spread the word," remarked Cappa. "It's thrilling that I get to hang out at the Campbell household for a little longer."

A President's Endorsement

The official statement also included commendation from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who described the series as "profoundly sincere and strangely uncanny." He thanked the fans who discovered the show and supported its distinctly quirky appeal.

"All of you supported this new show, rooted for it on social media, and expanded its audience week over week so we could approve not one, but two more seasons," said Ouweleen. "In the words: 'You are strong! You are loved!'"

A Comforting Counterpoint

Upon its debut, Haha, You Clowns was described as "a wholesome alternative" to more cynical adult animated fare. Viewers found something surprisingly comfy about following this charming family navigate their daily lives.

In earlier interviews, creator Joe Cappa expressed his desire to move the comedy genre beyond its prevailing sarcastic tone. He linked this trend to the rise of certain blockbuster franchises.

“It feels like there's a default mode of irony that we keep returning to,” explained Cappa. “It's like we have to know we’re the smartest person in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for 10 years, and we just have to laugh at something different now. It's time for comedy to grow.”

What Comes Next

With this renewal, with Haha, You Clowns set to continue, Cappa may well catalyze that very evolution. At a minimum, the renewal promises audiences more opportunities to bask in the heartfelt moments of the unique Campbell clan.

The final episode of Season 1 of Haha, You Clowns will premiere on December 21st. The complete first season is available for streaming on HBO Max.
