Arne Slot Maintains He Is Safe and Has Liverpool's Support Following PSV Defeat

Arne Slot acknowledged that it was understandable for doubts to be asked about his future after another convincing loss against PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool endured their 9th loss in 12 games, marking the team's poorest streak after being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were taken apart by the Eredivisie title holders on a tough evening at Anfield.

“I am feeling safe, things are alright, I have got significant backing from above,” Slot commented.

“It would be nice to turn it around and get a victory obviously but when you're coaching a team and underperforming then it is normal that questions are asked.”

He added, “I am OK with my role. It is not the first time I’ve been in a challenging situation but it's necessary that we turned it around.”

Discussions with The Board

Upon being questioned to elaborate on his discussions with the team officials, the head coach revealed:

“We communicate frequently. They are helpful for the squad and for me and we have those conversations but they aren't calling me constantly of the day to say they back me.”

He further stated, “During our regular exchanges I perceive the belief. However I've not talked to them after this match yet so it remains to be seen.”

Recurring Problems and Player Response

Slot lamented familiar weaknesses from his Liverpool side in their European defeat, specifically poor finishing and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, player Jones was blunter in his view of the team's situation.

“I don’t have the answers. Honestly, I don’t. I'm telling that to everyone,” the midfielder remarked.

“It is not good enough. I don't have to wait to think about it. I’m past feeling anger inside. I’m at the point currently where I simply lack the vocabulary.”

He continued, “It’s hard because I play for the club I love. I’m a fan, and I've watched Liverpool since I was young.”

“In recent memory, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team experiencing a spell like this with performances like these.”

He stated, “However we continue to wear that badge on our chest. And as long as that badge is taken away, we will always battle.”

“We’re going to try to bring this squad back to its rightful place, show everyone again what this club is about and the reason it's called the top club in the planet.”

“But right now, we're in trouble and we have to turn it around.”
