Netflix Selects Ideal Star for Bon Clay in One Piece Season 3
The Secret Organization is poised to make a major impact in Netflix’s upcoming season of One Piece, although the real showdown isn’t set to occur until the next season, and a cherished, audience-beloved member has just been cast.
The streaming service revealed Tuesday that the skilled actor is now part of the One Piece cast for the third season and will portray Mr. 2. The role possesses the power to change into an exact copy of any individual they’ve laid a hand on with their main hand. Escola, who is gender non-conforming and goes by they/them, will portray a interpretation of that role re-envisioned as non-binary identifying, rather than as a drag artist, in the live-action series, unlike the source material and animated series.
Escola is joined by a number of fresh additions set to bring the group to the screen, such as chief Mr. 0, played by the well-known actor, Sophia Anne Caruso as Miss Goldenweek, and Sendhil Ramamurthy, who is also part of the cast as the monarch of the fictional land.
Though the role is a key figure of the group, the individual will be introduced in One Piece the third season. Given the next season expected to adapt the Little Garden segment, this marks a significant shift in the timing of Bon Clay’s introduction, one that could signal more adjustments to the narrative framework.
Escola’s blend of excellent comedic sense and deep sensitivity makes them a perfect fit for the character. Along with their latest vocal work in the animated feature Boys Go to Jupiter, they earned widespread acclaim and several accolades for penning and acting in the hit comedy play Oh Mary!, showcasing the versatility they’ll bring to one of One Piece’s highly regarded roles.
Netflix's live-action One Piece series is scheduled to come back for its second season on March 10th, 2026.
