Recent Details Surface Concerning the Discovery of Rob and Michele Singer Reiner's Remains
Recent details have emerged concerning the untimely demises of renowned director Rob Reiner and visual artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose bodies were discovered at their Brentwood, Los Angeles residence on Sunday.
A Discovery
According to a report citing a confidential source, a practitioner arriving for an session was the first to notice something was wrong after failing to get inside the residence. The therapist then got in touch with the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who lives in the vicinity.
Upon entering the residence, Romy discovered her father's body. It is said she then fled the house in anguish, unaware at that moment that her mother's body was there as well. Another individual who had accompanied her promptly called 911. Subsequently, first responders located Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Criminal Developments
Authorities have formally accused the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with the charges of premeditated murder, including the use of a dangerous weapon, said to be a knife. He is currently in custody and is ineligible for bail.
Correcting the Record
The person close to the family questioned several earlier details. The source indicated that while Romy Reiner informed emergency responders that her brother Nick resided in a guesthouse on the estate, she did not point to him as a person of interest at that time.
Additionally disputed widely reported claims that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been especially "apprehensive" about Nick's actions in the weeks leading up to the incident. Rather the family was "used to working through [Nick's] problems together."
This correction applies to reports of alleged "unstable" conduct by Nick at a gathering held by Conan O'Brien on the night before the discovery. While the source said they were not in a position to confirm whether Rob had "chastised" his son at the party, they maintained that reports of a "heated argument" between the two were not correct.
Investigation Details
As stated by law enforcement officials, the medical examiner had yet to determine as of Tuesday whether the Reiners died late on Saturday or on Sunday. Some media reports indicated the condition of their bodies implied they had been deceased for some hours.
Nick Reiner was apprehended at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park, some 15 miles from the family home. He was due to have a hearing on Tuesday, but his legal counsel, Alan Jackson, stated his client had not been medically cleared and would not be present until no sooner than Wednesday.
