Soccer Analyst Chris Sutton Faces Off Against Singer Murs in Premier League Predictions

The Gunners' ten-match winning run came to an end by the Black Cats prior to the global break, however can the English top division leaders bounce back against north London rivals Tottenham this Sunday?

"{I believe like Arsenal are miles ahead of Tottenham currently but Spurs manager Thomas Frank will have a strategy for this match," remarked football specialist Chris Sutton.

"Frank will try to nullify Arsenal, who have not always been at their sparkling finest this season - but Mikel Arteta's side typically still manage to win."

The analyst is forecasting results for all 380 Premier League games this term, versus AI, fans and a variety of special visitors.

For the twelfth round, he takes on performer Olly Murs, who is a Manchester United fan.

The singer's new album, Knees Up, is available on Friday.

Murs is a skilled soccer player as well as a accomplished singer and has been a featured player of multiple charity football matches down the years - but he is not planning a professional return as a player.

"{I actually played in a charity game the other night for a mate of mine," he explained. "My side was trailing 3-1 when I was substituted in the second half, and they went on to win 4-3, so you can read into that what you want!

"I still love football, but I hurt my joint a few years ago and it even now isn't where I want it to be. I wish I could play more but the unpredictability of the sport means it's too risky for me in my career to do it properly again.

"Plus I am 41 now, and we are not everyone is Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very content not playing football and I am preparing for the time that my child or boy decides to play instead."

Murs and his wife Amelia Tank have two children, their daughter and Albert, and he is ready to emulate his dad by becoming their manager.

"I won't force football on our kids but I've already told Amelia that if they happen to get the bug for it then I will have to go and get my manager qualifications - and I will probably be coaching their Saturday soccer side," he said.

"I watched my relatives play a lot, and I really got into it, and I clearly was involved with a football club for a period too.

"My father coached with us when I was a child, which is probably where I inherited it. He managed our side for several seasons and had great fun with it. That might be the future for me as well, and I am excited to it!"

Premier League Predictions

Saturday, 22 November

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

Chelsea may have to be patient for Cole Palmer's return from fitness issues but their offense is already more potent with Joao Pedro and Delap both back fit.

In my opinion this game will be fairly close, though. Burnley are well organised and their only home defeats so far have been against the Reds and the Gunners.

This smells of a 1-1 draw to me, but I am actually going to choose Chelsea to edge it for what would be their third consecutive league win in a row.

The expert's prediction: 1-2

Olly's prediction: Chelsea will be superior. 1-3

AI's prediction: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Cherries have lost their past two matches - albeit both of them were away - but they got thoroughly beaten by Villa last time out which surprised me.

On the other hand, the Hammers secured back-to-back victories before the international break and, although both of those games were at home, they do look competitive again.

The Hammers' sole away win this campaign came at Forest in the summer, when West Ham manager Nuno was previously that team's manager.

Therefore, what on earth do I predict here - will it be West Ham extending their run under Nuno, or the home side responding?

I am going to go with Bournemouth, because I believe what happened against Villa was a blip.

The pundit's forecast: 2-0

The guest's outlook: The home team are performing strongly but the visitors have improved under their boss. 2-2

AI's pick: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Bees were seen as one of the favourites for the drop before the season began, but they have surprised a few observers under Keith Andrews and are in fine fettle with three wins in their past four games.

A family member advised me to get Brentford forward Thiago in my Fantasy Football squad a few weeks back and, unfortunately, I ignored the advice.

Thiago will likely score again on Saturday but I am nonetheless not going to select him or support Brentford at Amex Stadium.

The Bees have not had great fortune on the road this term, and Brighton are always decent at home. The visitors will attempt to hit them on the break but I think the home manager's team pose much more of a threat.

Sutton's forecast: 2-1

The singer's view: It could be a match where you think there is going to be a lot of scores but it in reality proves to be rather close. 1-1

The computer's outcome: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

This is a massive fixture for the Cottagers, who have suffered defeat in five of their past six matches.

They have have plenty of talent in their squad but it still feels like they could be dragged into a drop zone fight.

As for the Black Cats, well they are the surprise package of the top flight campaign so far.

Their performance in the two-all tie with the Gunners last time out was superb. We've not seen anyone else disrupt the North London side like that this season, and Sunderland were more than a match for them.

The logical choice would be to back the visitors here, because they are clearly capable of roughing the hosts up too and, the last time they were in this part of London, they defeated Chelsea at the close of October.

However I am not going to do that. Instead, I truly need to carry on opposing Sunderland with my forecasts. I am claiming a lot of responsibility for their positive outcomes because they clearly love to prove me wrong.

Looking at Fulham's at Craven Cottage form, the only team they have been defeated by is Arsenal. Marco Silva's team will be absolutely eager for a good outcome, so I am going to say they will secure three much-needed points.

The expert's forecast: 1-0

The guest's prediction: I'm aware the visitors are performing strongly and additionally that the hosts are on a bad run... but Fulham have nonetheless been respectable at home this season. 2-0

The algorithm's outlook: 2-0

  • Anfield, 15:00 GMT

It is a tough fixture to predict. Liverpool have lost seven of their last ten games in all competitions, but could they be one of the teams who benefit from the {international break|
