Star Denies Anti-Vax Stance After Voicing Controversial Pandemic Documentary
The acclaimed actor has given his narration to a new documentary that challenges the legitimacy of vaccines and lauds former cabinet secretary Robert F Kennedy Jr.
The Film's Provocative Basis
Titled "Plague of Corruption," the project is adapted from a bestselling book written by a controversial scientist, who gained notoriety during the global outbreak for claims that the virus was a result of a problematic version of the influenza shot.
The book's collaborator, a producer, has previously authored books with conspiracy-prone figure Alex Jones. Heckenlively wrote online hailing Neeson's role in the film.
A Strong Statement
A spokesperson for Neeson have issued a statement firmly refuting claims that he supports anti-vax beliefs.
"Everyone can recognize that misconduct may occur within the pharmaceutical industry, but that cannot be equated to being against vaccines," the statement states. "Neeson never has been, and is not, anti-vax. His considerable work with the global charity highlights his consistent support for global immunisation initiatives."
The statement added that the star did not shape the film's narrative and that inquiries about its claims are best addressed to the creators.
Major Assertions Featured in the Documentary
In the film, the narration provided by Neeson makes several strong claims:
- It suggests that pro-immunization voices have demanded "complete compliance" to public institutions.
- It posits that "research has become dangerously influenced by politics."
- Robert F Kennedy Jr is featured saying, "The core flaw with vaccines is that they are not safely tested."
- The narration takes aim at pandemic restrictions, claiming they caused psychological harm that led to the loss of thousands of lives.
- On the topic of the immunizations, it cites a perspective that they were "developed too quickly" and seen as "risky trials."
Previous Context and Recent Issues
The film further cites a historical film about HIV drug testing on children, which was subsequently the subject of a BBC apology by the broadcaster for editorial breaches.
Recently, Kennedy called on the national health agency to alter its longstanding position that there is no link between immunizations and autism. This claim is echoed in the documentary, contrary to a recent study from the global health body stating no such link has been found.
An Earlier Statement of Advocacy
Standing in contrast to the documentary's narrative, Neeson has previously voiced clear advocacy for vaccines in his role as a UNICEF goodwill ambassador.
Two years ago, he referred to vaccines as "an extraordinary achievement," stating that "The discourse about vaccines in lately has overlooked how much benefit they have done... It is perhaps one of the biggest collective achievements in history."
"Plague of Corruption" ends with Neeson's narration proclaiming, "This isn't the conclusion of our story. Rather, it is the start of a new chapter."
