The Fifth Toy Story Film Teaser Pits Woody and Buzz Against a Digital Device
Exactly 30 years since the original Toy Story film debuted, launching Pixar as a leading film company and bringing viewers to beloved characters like the cowboy doll (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now household names.
Coming in 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, offering a brief look into the storyline but keeping fans curious how it will address the ending of Toy Story 4.
Bonnie's New Toy: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Frightens the Gang
In the teaser shows the young girl — who received Andy's toys when he left for college — getting a latest plaything, one that terrifies Woody, Buzz, and the crew. She acquires her first tablet computer, and she is thrilled about it.
Theoretically, the amphibian-inspired device will animate just like Bonnie's other toys. Still, the characters seem to view it as a danger intending to supplant them, which it probably is.
The Cowboy's Comeback: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
One thing the trailer avoids is what Woody is back with his companions in Bonnie's room. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (the actress), traveling with a fair and helping giveaway items locate loving owners.
Surely, Pixar will explain the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him appear in Bonnie's room unexpectedly is a little strange, however. It also makes us wonder whether Bo Peep will have come back with him. And what about the stuntman toy (Keanu Reeves)?
Connections from the Last Installment
At the very least, some aspects are continuing from the prior film. The final act Woody did before setting off for his fresh path was hand over his sheriff badge to Jessie (Joan Cusack), entrusting her as the leader of Bonnie's bedroom. The clip displays the badge attached to her outfit.
Hopefully she is still the key figure among the toys.
Toy Story 5 arrives in theaters on the scheduled date.
