When we were off Cyprus, getting ready for overnight duty while monitoring an unknown aerial vehicle, we were informed that Israel had illegally commandeered the primary aid vessels outside territorial boundaries.

Subsequent sunrise delivered troubling information while I completed daily chores: cleaning reusable containers in the small sink, reviewing communications repeatedly while Israel progressively captured the remainder of the flotilla.

This situation has simply enhanced our shared resolve to persist in our journey.

Life Onboard

During this voyage phase, I've developed a pattern. My resting pattern includes sleeping from 11pm to 2am, then working night watch until dawn approaches, securing additional rest afterwards for a total of five hours. More sleep proves impossible between turbulent waves and constant interruptions in close-quarter existence.

My sleeping arrangement consists of a narrow cushion placed over the seating area in the collective area. Daily I get clothed inside my sleeping bag during morning beverage preparation in close proximity. Multiple factors of communal existence with six other individuals on a 40-foot vessel require significant adaptation.

During a recent interview, someone suggested they perceived our operation as metaphorical because prevention looked unavoidable.

Considered remotely, this reading may look credible. Yet, following navigation for over a week with assistance materials surrounding you constantly, familiar with its specific storage, continuing optimism remains crucial for assisting desperate communities.

Although global attention about activists' circumstances continues appropriate and crucial, comparable focus has been absent concerning Palestinian ordeal during years of struggle.
